Chattanooga Bits
33 x 53 in.
This would be another case of I love pattern and color (see Zephyr). I wanted to convey the spirit of Chattanooga
without copying it to the letter, so there are bridges and landmarks but not necessarily exactly where they should be.
A side note: Having seen it from a distance, I was looking for an image of the carousel top in Coolidge park and
found a monkey holding a banner. I was thrilled and put it in the painting. It turns out that the top is actually a
horse and what I'd found was the architect's initial image that was later scrapped. Live and learn.

Indulgence
12 x 16 in.
My dog loves to find rocks in the yard and deposit them on the deck where I invariably step on them.
To avoid the pain, I began tossing them in an old ceramic bowl and when it was full I discovered that it
had become a fascinating mix of color and texture. It was an image I couldn't get off my mind, so I
indulged myself and painted a bowl of rocks.

Transience
Sold / Private Collection
7 x 4 in.
The rocks felt so solid and heavy that I wanted to add delicacy and a sense of fleeting time.

Zephyr
12 x 26 in.
I love being true to the world I see when I paint, but I also love pattern and color.
Sometimes I can't get enough of that with the usual subject matter, so I make my own.
Zephyr speaks to me of richness and warmth, a soft puff of breeze against the skin.

Blackbird
Available at Catiri's Art Oasis
12 1/2 x 14 1/2 in.
We don't often get snow in Tenessee, but a few years back we got a dusting and with it,
a spring migration of blackbirds. I loved the black of the birds against the blues and
taupes of the trees and snow. This is my interpretation of that morning.
